“I would like my story to be an inspiration to my fellow women who are going through struggle and hardship in their life right now. Keep your Faith in God. Be strong and move on. Better days are yet to come. After the storm, there is a Rainbow that symbolizes your colorful life in the future.”

I have been living with my husband for 11 years until we decided to apply as Immigrants of Canada for a better future. We decided that he would work for a year and then he would bring me and the children to Canada so that our family could be together.

We arrived in Canada on August of 2015. Prior to moving to Canada, my husband and I had problems with our marriage. One day, he told me that he was going back to his home country. I didn’t realize that he wasn’t planning on ever coming back. He left me and our children, he abandoned us.

I didn’t think it would be a problem because I have a job but when I tried to renew my work permit, it was declined. The student permits for my children were also declined. My husband sponsored us to come to Canada and since he left us here, we were unable to get approved through immigration without him. I had to stop working.

I asked my husband to come back but he doesn’t want to because he is already living with another woman back home.

It’s a struggle. It’s hard because I have to raise the two kids on my own and even though I had a job I can’t work because I did not have a permit that time. I was so sad for my children because even though they didn’t do anything wrong, they still have to experience this because of their irresponsible father.

Through the SINP Program, I got my job back. I got divorced and my children and I are now permanent residents.

We are living our dream to have a better life in Canada and moving on.
